Newly elected eThekwini Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda has called on all counsellors to work with him, to stabilize and refurbish the city of eThekwini.
Kaunda was officially sworn in as Mayor of one of the biggest metros in the province at the Durban City Hall yesterday.
Former transport MEC replaced former eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede who faces charges of corruption relating to a solid waste tender.
Kaunda says to excel, he will meet with Gumede to discuss how to make this metro a clean and smooth one.
COGTA MEC Sipho Hlomuka says they will ensure that they work together with the newly elected executive in the Ethekwini Municipality.
Hlomuka was speaking on the sidelines of the council meeting held yesterday at the Durban City Hall.
Mxolisi Kaunda was elected as the new mayor, Belinda Scott as the new deputy mayor, while the speaker is Weziwe Thusi.
Hlomuka says they will ensure that they give them support in order to retain things to be back to normal in the city
