The SA Human Rights Commission is due to release its full report into the oncology crisis in KZN.

The commission released a statement last week saying the KZN Health Department and MEC Sibongiseni Dhlomo had violated the rights of patients at Addington and the Inkosi Albert Luthuli hospitals in Durban for failing to provide access to health care services.

The statement advised the respondents to take immediate action, repair and monitor all health technology machines – regardless of contractual disputes.

The report comes just weeks after the last oncologist in the province’s public sector resigned.

The party’s spokesperson for health in the province , Imraan Keeka says recruiting medical staff is a national issue.
