The South African Weather Service has confirmed that the message making the rounds on social media warning the city of a storm tomorrow is an old message.
The message states that “A major storm is likely to reach Durban between 11h00 and 14h00 tomorrow and possibly up to 50mm of rain.”
South African Weather Service’s Ayanda Ntsele says this message is from last year’s disasterous storm in October.
Meanwhile emergency services in the province say they remain on high alert as heavy rains continue to fall in parts of the province.
Wet roads and localised flooding have been reported in numerous regions, especially on the north coast.
The South African Weather Service says weather conditions are expected improve as we approach the weekend.
Emergency services Paul Herbst is urging motorists to slow down and increase their following distance.
