The Executive Mayor of Cape Town, Patricia de Lille says it will take at least three consecutive winters to finally break the drought.

Today the City of Cape Town will be putting out a request for ideas or information to the market for proposed solutions that will enable the City to temporarily establish several small, intermediate and possibly even large plants to supply potable water.

According to de Lille, the recent rains only increased dam levels by 1.2%, which is not much.

De Lille says people needs to know that they can no longer rely on the rain to fill up dams.
